New studies show that dental diseases like gingivitis may pose danger to an unborn baby’s health. Evidences have been found that pregnant women who have severe gum disease are seven times more like to have premature delivery compared to women who have health gums. The risk level of premature delivery caused by gingivitis can now be compared to that of heavy drinking and a little higher compared to smoking. It’s given that you should brush and floss your teeth regularly pregnant or not. However, you should visit your dentist at least once during pregnancy to clean your teeth. And make sure you inform your dentist about your pregnancy. The second trimester is the perfect time to visit your dentist unless emergency.

If you are scheduled for a long travel and suddenly you experience a toothache, it would be best if you postpone. Make a trip first to the dentist to take care of your dental problem. If symptoms persist, ask the dentist to prescribe a pain reliever that you can bring along. If there’s a major dental work that needs to be done, have it long before the trip so that it will recuperate fully. Refrain from doing anything that may lead to dental problems during your travel such as eating popcorn because it’s likely to damage your teeth. Toothbrush and floss are dental care necessities when you travel with the exemption of toothpaste since it is not allowed on the plane anymore.

Before seeing a dentist in the event you experience toothache, try easing the pain before taking the trip. Initially, gargle with warm water to rinse your mouth. Then floss out gently any food particle that may have stuck between your teeth. Do it in such a way that you will not hurt the gums to avoid bleeding. If the pain continues, you may try medication whatever it is available nearby. You can pop in pain relievers like acetaminophen which you can buy over the counter. Analgesic that contains benzocaine can also be applied directly to the aching tooth and gums to relieve the pain.

The most common culprit of toothache is tooth decay which is caused by bacteria that grows in your mouth from the food particles stuck in between the teeth. Without proper dental care, a substance called plaque will form and it will adhere to the surface of the teeth. These bacteria will produce acids that can eat through the tooth enamel creating holes. These holes are called dental caries or cavities. Then the decay can pass through the tooth attacking the tooth pulp where the nerves and blood supply are located causing toothache. If you have serious infection caused by pus drainage around the affected tooth, then you are likely to experience toothache as well. This infection is called abscess. When left untreated, the infection will spread to the sustaining jawbones and other parts of the body.

Your pets can also develop periodontal disease which is an infection of the tissue that surrounds the teeth. At age 3, their teeth need to be brushed regularly. Studies show that 80% of all cats and 70% of all cats have symptoms of dental disease. Given proper dental care, your pets can live an additional five more years. Just like humans, when pets eat, some of the food particles are stuck in between their teeth. Plaque will start to form and if not treated they can also have gingivitis. The main purpose of cleaning their mouth and brushing their teeth is for your pets to have healthy gums.

Having a toothache is an excruciating experience and it can definitely affect our daily activities because of the continuous pain. Normally, we would like to immediately go the dentist to seek professional help. However, there are times that a dentist is not available. If that’s the case, then it’s time to resort to some herbal home remedies for momentary relief. You can use vanilla essence placed in a cotton swab and place it in the aching tooth. Clove oil used moderately is another preferred treatment because it’s very reliable. A clove of garlic pressed against the aching tooth is another source of relief.

Bacteria left untreated inside your mouth will cause gum diseases, toothache, bad breath and worst losing of teeth. Fortunately, there are natural remedies you can make to kill some if not all of these bacteria. Using herbs is one example and this formula would require 2 parts white oak bark herb, 1 part myrrh gum herb, ¾ part peppermint leaves, ½ part anise herb and a/8 part clove. All the herbs and leaves must be in powder form. Just mix everything and put in a container. What you will do is to use it just like how you will use your toothpaste. But you are not supposed to rinse them immediately to keep the active herb powders in your mouth.
